Lake Almanor

Lake Almanor is a gateway to Lassen Volcanic National Park, located between Chico and Susanville.  At 4,500 feet in elevation, it’s the unique place where the Cascade and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges meet.  The lake, the county’s largest, is 53 road miles around has a summertime temperature is around 75 degrees, great for all water sports.

There are three golf courses around the lake.  Bailey Creek is a stunning 18-hole championship course, and golfers can also choose from two popular nine-hole courses, one at Lake Almanor Country Club and the other at Lake Almanor West.

For winter fun, there are miles of groomed trails and roads for snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.  There are three snowmobile parks in the area and plenty of snow-covered hills for sledding.

The town of Chester is located at the north end of the lake, with other smaller communities along the lake offering a wide range of amenities and events for residents and visitors alike.  These communities include Prattville, Lake Almanor West, Lake Almanor Peninsula, Lake Almanor Country Club, and Bailey Creek, Hamilton Branch, East shore and Canyon Dam.
